We have been advised by Inland Revenue that there is a new email phishing scam currently in circulation.  

 

The phishing scam email states:

 

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity, we have determined that you
are eligible to receive a tax refund of 988.50 NZ Dollars. Please submit the tax refund
request and allow us 3-5 days in order to process it.

Click Refund Me Now to submit your tax refund request

Note: A refund can be delayed a variety of reasons, for example submitting invalid
records or applying after deadline.

The link directs you to a fake Inland Revenue webpage which also provides links to a number of key banking facilities. The objective is to encourage visitors to log into the log on screen when they click on the logo of their bank. Anyone entering these details can have their personal banking identity stolen.
